Giant snacks are bad.

20090403-cheetos-mouthHave you ever eaten a giant Kit Kat? Or a giant M&M? Or one of those great big Cheetos? They’re awful. Candy designers spend a lot of time getting the ratios correct. When you get a big mouthful of the chocolate in an M&M or a Kit Kat, it’s just terrible. That’s why they have candy coating and wafers. Who wants to know what’s on the inside of a Cheeto? It’s the glued-on fake cheese we want. Making it bigger just screws it up.

Curiously, fun-size (aka “mini”) snacks seem to be okay. That’s just one of life’s mysteries.

I can’t believe you like “Fun Size.” How is less more fun?

I don’t like the term, although I salute the clever marketing fellow that came up with it. But they do taste good.
