The orgy of pouring.

70756294.t1zvw1uO.CRW_2406I can’t find anything to back this up, but I’m under the impression that you can’t show someone drinking beer in a commercial. The result is what was once called “the orgy of pouring.”

Beer commercials largely consist of tall, clear glasses being filled with cascading waves of frosty cold foamy beer filmed in super slow motion. Then someone happily picks up the glass and the logo appears and the commercial ends.

It’s amazing that they can sell a product at all when they can’t show somebody actually using it like it’s intended to be used. Contrast with a soda commercial, in which some guy will down half a bottle in a single gulp.

If you were from another planet, you would think from beer commercials that the purpose of beer is to pour it dramatically into a glass and then admire it.
