Doesn’t Cameron know about the Thunderball effect?

Before the James Bond flick Thunderball came out, it was touted as vastly expensive and a showcase for underwater adventures never before seen on film. What the producers forgot is that throwing a punch underwater takes about five minutes. Every action scene filmed underwater becomes horribly boring. People swimming is not as exciting as people running.

LWC and I call this “The Thunderball Effect.” Won’t everything be more exciting underwater? No, it won’t. Avatar 2: Revenge of the Smurfs is supposed to explore the oceans of Pandora. Good luck with that, Jimmy C. Sounds boring as hell to me.
